The Worshipful Company of Brewers is once again upon us. The charter of this sanctified league dictates that each member of the Brooklyn Brewery brewing team will design and create a batch of his or her own draft-only beer, to be served exclusively at the Brewery Tasting Room until the last drop has been squeezed from the taps.
Beer #14: 1,001 Nights
Style: Saison brewed with dark dried lemon, fresh cardamom, and honey
ABV: 5.7%
Notes: Intensely aromatic, with plenty of spice and citrus from the cardamom, dark dried lemon and Belgian yeast.
Availability: Friday, March 4 until it’s gone.
Brewer #14: Ayad Asha, Packaging Operator
Age: 30
Started at Brooklyn Brewery: March 2014
Liquor of Choice: Johnnie Walker Black Label
Favorite Drinking Spot: The Packaging Driveway. “You can have a beer inside the door, and a cigarette and game of cornhole just outside the door.”
Brewer’s Notes: Ayad grew up in Baghdad, Iraq, close to beer’s ancestral home of ancient Mesopotamia. He relied on the spices of his home to bring complexity to this beer, with dark dried lemons, fresh cardamom and honey echoing some of his favorite dishes to cook at home. It’s the perfect beer to transition into spring, and we’re thrilled to have it on tap.
