Look, it’s the Friday before New Years. We know you’re pretending to work. Personally, I wrote this on Thursday and took Friday off. But if you’re still stuck in the office, you’ll need something to furrow your brow at so everyone knows you’re “really concentrating.”

For the final Weekly Sixer of 2016, please enjoy a roundup of some of our favorite year-end lists and long reads to send you into the holiday weekend. You’re welcome, thanks for reading, and we’ll see you when the calendar flips.

The Best New Beers of 2016: Our friend Niko Krommydas polled the best and brightest of New York City’s beer scene on their favorite new beers of 2016. Your trusty author was lucky enough to be included, and you can read through to see the closest thing to a direct answer I could give. No matter what, it’s a handy guide to what you should be keeping an eye out for at your corner bar and bottle shop.

First We Feast’s Favorite New Bars: From freshly sticky dives to upscale cocktail spots, 2016 featured a respectable roster of new watering holes for us all. Check out First We Feast’s list for your next date night, D&D meeting, or any other pick-me-up you need.

The Best Bad Restaurant Reviews: All of the finest cringeworthy restaurant commentary and burn-inducing culinary one liners of 2016, all in one place. We generally follow Michael Jackson’s (not the King of Pop) model of only commenting on things we can praise, but this is some cutting work. Indulge in some rubbernecking.

Punch’s Drink Trends Pulse: Drink experts from all walks were polled by Punch on the most pervasive and controversial drink trends of the year, and whether they should stick around or be kicked to the curb. Whether or not you agree with their opinions, we can all acknowledge one thing: whoever is behind Edison bulbs these days is a business genius.

Serious Eats’ Favorite Long Reads, Too: …check out Serious Eats’ list while you’re at it. Who knows, you might even learn something new before the year is out. Good luck, party hard, party safe, and we’ll see you in 2017.
