Party On, Wayne: It’s rare for us to cover our own news here on News You Can Booze, but I have to let you know about our Summer in Winter party this Sunday at Webster Hall. There’s a special run of Summer Ale cans sitting in our warehouse right now, and the only place they’re going is Webster Hall. It’s ten bucks, and you get to drink Summer Ale cans months ahead of release. There’s more cool stuff at that link, and I’ll be wearing my finest Hawaiian shirt, but come on. See you Sunday the 28th, 3 PM sharp.

Know Your History: Speaking of summery drinks, the folks at Food & Wine have put together a handy history lesson on the long-revered Margarita. From the drink’s inception to its inevitable incorporation into the slush-ice machine, it can be argued that there was no finer moment in margarita history than the penning of the Jimmy Buffett’s “Margaritaville.” You’d probably lose the argument, but we’d listen.

tom price brew

Hey, While You’re In Connecticut: Brooklyn Brewery alum Tom Price– seen above in an image from Dan D’Ippolito tasting a batch of his Winter Is Coming stout– is now the Head of Brewery Operations at Half Full Brewery in Stamford, Connecticut. This officially makes him the most interesting Harvard grad since Skylar from Good Will Hunting. Pop up there and try some of his new brews, before we get up there and drink them all.

Gather The Wagons: On the heels of New York City Beer Week, it’s worth refreshing on just who’s brewing in New York City these days. Brew York has compiled the definitive list of the twenty-four breweries currently operating in the city. We’d say to try and hit them all in one crawl, but given the subways that would take you a month. Go and plan some smaller crawls instead.

grimm and fantone

Grimm/Fantome Collaboration Touches Down: Local brewers Grimm Artisanal Ales and Belgium-based stars Fantôme Brewery recently brewed a collaborative saison that has just made it to American shores. As with all of Grimm’s releases, we’re sure it will be difficult to track down, but absolutely worth it. In the meantime, snag their crave-inducing Super Spruce to fuel your dreams.

Find Your Inner Norm: A London study has found that being a regular at a local pub is good for your health and social skills. The study claims that the face-to-face interaction and convivial attitude of small pubs lead to healthier lives and more positive outlooks. The relationship deteriorated in larger, noisier bars, which makes sense to anyone who’s attempted to shout an order over a row of fellow bargoers’ heads without sounding like a complete jerk. Get out there and find your “spot.”
